An interactive gaming experience based on the animated streaming hit KPop Demon Hunters is slated to launch in select U.S. locations in January 2027, Immersive Gamebox announced. This new venture is a collaboration with Netflix, aiming to pull fans directly into the world of the series.
The experience will feature players working together through a series of interactive games utilizing 3D motion tracking, projection mapping, touch-sensitive walls, and spatial audio. Instead of full VR headsets, participants will use lightweight motion-tracking headgear. Before gameplay begins, players will have the opportunity to create their own 'Superfan' avatar in the style of the animated movie.
Guided by HUNTR/X, participants will embark on a quest to protect the Honmoon, encountering familiar locations, characters, and moments from the film. The experience is designed for two to six players, with an estimated runtime of 60 minutes. Tickets are expected to go on sale in December, and a Priority Waitlist is currently available, offering early access before the general sale.
Immersive Gamebox, which opened its first U.S. location in 2020, has previously collaborated with Netflix on experiences for Squid Game and Floor Is Lava. The company currently operates over 29 experiences across 35 venues.
This Immersive Gamebox offering is not the only way fans can engage with the KPop Demon Hunters universe. Netflix will host its own "KPop Demon Hunters: The Immersive Experience" at two Netflix House locations beginning in November. This version will incorporate "3D technology," live actors, multiple sets, and themed food and drinks, all while sticking to the movie's original Honmoon storyline.
In related news, the sequel to KPop Demon Hunters is reportedly not expected until at least 2029, but it has secured a full theatrical release, a departure from the first film's initial streaming-only debut.
