Krispy Kreme is set to release a limited-time collection of Pokémon-themed doughnuts beginning August 18. The new offerings will feature designs inspired by five popular Pokémon characters.
The collection includes a Pikachu doughnut filled with lemon creme and topped with "electrifying drizzle," along with a Pikachu candy piece. A Charmander doughnut will contain a chocolate and toasted marshmallow filling. Original glazed doughnuts will also be customized to represent Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Jigglypuff, as well as the iconic Poké Ball. A special dozen box is expected to retail for approximately $21 in the U.S.
Beyond the doughnuts, the collaboration extends to collectible cups. Customers can obtain five different Pokémon-themed cups, each containing 10 glazed gold dots. These cups are priced around $8 individually. A bundle including a dozen doughnuts and one of the collectible cups will be available for approximately $29, though it does not appear to offer a discount.
Fans looking to get a head start can preorder the Pokémon doughnuts directly from Krispy Kreme's website. Additionally, on August 22, Krispy Kreme locations will offer a free basic glazed doughnut to any customer who wears Pokémon-themed attire to the store.
This is not the first Pokémon-related food promotion this year; Target previously offered Pokémon Pop-Tarts. The collaboration also follows recent unofficial Pokémon-inspired merchandise released by a novelty shop.
