EA Sports has confirmed that Kylian Mbappe will be the cover star for the Ultimate Edition of FC 27. The announcement continues Mbappe's relationship with EA's professional football series, having previously featured on the cover of FIFA 23 in 2022.
Mbappe, who currently plays for Real Madrid, was a standout performer in the recent World Cup, scoring 10 goals and earning the Golden Boot award, despite his national team's elimination in the semifinals. "Kylian’s achievements for both club and country have established him as one of the defining players of his generation," stated Jeff Sharma, EA Sports VP, as reported by VGC.
In a statement, Mbappe expressed that it is a "very special moment" and an "honor" to continue his partnership with EA for the FC series. The player's lucrative career includes significant salary from his club and substantial off-pitch endorsement deals.
The FC series often features multiple cover athletes for its various editions. FC 26, for example, had Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the Ultimate Edition cover, while Jude Bellingham and Jamal Musiala shared the Standard Edition cover. It remains to be seen who will be featured on the standard edition of FC 27.
EA Sports is expected to release further details regarding FC 27 on July 27. In related news, EA's World Cup simulation accurately predicted Spain's victory this year, maintaining its streak of correct predictions dating back to 2006.
