Alleged gameplay footage has surfaced online, purportedly showcasing a cancelled Assassin's Creed title that was in development with the working title 'Assassin's Creed Destiny.' Sources indicate this game was distinct from the mobile title Assassin's Creed Jade and was being developed for PC and consoles by Tencent Games subsidiary TiMi Studio Group.
The footage, according to reports, depicts a female assassin navigating a palace under siege by the historical warlord Xiang Yu, with a mysterious artifact at stake. The game is said to have been set in the Qin Dynasty, around 206 BCE, placing it a few years before the events of Assassin's Creed Jade. Development on 'Destiny' was reportedly halted following Tencent's strategic shift to reduce its focus on large Western game franchises in favor of prioritizing its own high-budget projects.
Assassin's Creed Jade, which is set in ancient China and remains without a release date, was last referenced by Ubisoft in March. For players seeking an Assassin's Creed experience set in China on PC, the 2015 title Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China is available. This 2.5D side-scroller follows the assassin Shao Jun during the Ming Dynasty.
