The enduring partnership between Nintendo and Lego is set to expand with the reveal of eight new Super Mario Lego sets, distinguished by the long-anticipated inclusion of minifigures. This marks a significant step for the Lego Super Mario range, bringing the iconic characters to a more traditional minifigure scale.

Among the new additions is the "Mario's Pipe Jump" set, which incorporates classic Super Mario imagery such as a warp pipe and a Goomba. This set features a mechanism to "catapult Goomba out of the way" as Mario progresses. The collection also includes three Mario Kart-themed sets. One set features Mario with power-up items, another pairs Bowser Jr. with Luigi in a race, and a third ensemble presents four racers: Bowser, Goomba, Toad, and a character described as "the star of Mario Kart World, that cow that everyone on the internet likes."

Further diversifying the lineup are themed sets such as a "beach getaway" featuring Mario surfing alongside a Sidewinder, a set where Mario interacts with Yoshi, and a "showdown" scenario with Luigi battling a Koopa Troopa. A prominent new set is "Fire Mario & Bowser’s Castle," which centers on Bowser and his iconic fortress. The pricing for these sets will range from $9.99 for the "Mario's Pipe Jump" set to $99.99 for the "Bowser’s Castle" set, with most of the new releases falling on the lower end of the price spectrum. All eight sets are scheduled for release on January 1, 2027.

Patrick Otley, design manager at the Lego Group, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration's expansion. "This is an amazing celebration of our partnership with Nintendo, bringing Super Mario to Lego minifigure form feels like the start of something special," Otley stated in a press release. "Giving kids what they want and need to build and create their own stories and adventures was our ambition, extending and enhancing playtime through these iconic characters. We want to give our fans more freedom to play the way they want to, and with the addition of Lego Super Mario minifigures, we hope kids will be even more inspired." This marks the first time minifigures have been incorporated into the Lego Super Mario collaboration, which initially launched in 2020 with the "My First Course" set, blending Lego construction with interactive video game elements.
