October marks a significant month for LEGO releases, introducing a curated selection of new sets rather than an overwhelming deluge. This month's highlights include a near life-size replica of the original PlayStation, a colossal Executor Super Star Destroyer from Star Wars, new Pokémon-themed builds, and additions to the Marvel and Wednesday franchises.
A Free Gift for Early Shoppers
From now until October 7, or while supplies last, customers spending $150 or more at the LEGO Store will receive the LEGO Astro Bot as a free Gift With Purchase (GWP). This 276-piece set, depicting the PlayStation mascot, is valued at $24.99 and is also available for separate purchase at PlayStation Direct.
Iconic Consoles and Vehicles Reimagined
The LEGO PlayStation set, cataloged as #72306, offers a detailed, near 1:1 scale recreation of the original Sony console that first launched in the US in 1995. Purchasing this set also qualifies for the Astro Bot GWP. For early access, LEGO Insiders could purchase the set before October 4; free signup is available for the LEGO Insiders program.
Similarly, LEGO Insiders had early access to the Star Wars Executor Super Star Destroyer (#75457) until October 4. This immense set comprises 6,130 pieces and measures nearly 4.5 feet in length, presenting a considerable display challenge for enthusiasts. Buyers who purchase the Executor Super Star Destroyer by October 10 will receive the LEGO Darth Vader's Lightsaber (40897) GWP, valued at $29.99.
Pokémon and Marvel Expansions
The LEGO x Pokémon collaboration continues with two new sets: a large-scale Poké Ball (#72154) and an Up-Scaled Red Minifigure (#40868). These additions follow the partnership's initial releases earlier in the year.
New sets tied to the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film Avengers: Doomsday have also been released. Notably, the New Avengers Tower set (#76352) offers a more accessible alternative to previous, larger iterations of the iconic building. This set includes six minifigures and is positioned as a good option for play.
Entertainment and Holiday Themes
Fans of stop-motion animation can look forward to the LEGO Wallace & Gromit set (#21371), featuring the titular duo on their motorbike. The set is designed to roll when pushed. Additionally, the LEGO Bookstore: Book Nook set (#11379) expands the collection of shelf-compatible builds, offering an opening design that reveals a detailed bookstore interior.
The popular series Downton Abbey receives its own LEGO treatment with set #21373, a brick-built replica of the residence accompanied by 13 minifigures.
For the holiday season, LEGO has launched six new Christmas-themed sets, including builds inspired by the film Elf and an Up-Scaled Mrs. Claus Minifigure.
Fans of the Netflix series Wednesday can find two new sets: the Wednesday Backpack (#76787), which opens to reveal a dorm room, and Nevermore Academy (#76788), a representation of the fictional school.
