A detailed Lego replica of the original PlayStation console will be available for purchase starting October 1. The announcement came during Sony's recent State of Play presentation, showcasing a set comprising 1,911 pieces that aims for a 1:1 scale with the iconic console.
This intricate build includes functional elements such as an openable disc tray and pressable buttons. Notably, the set incorporates small dioramas of classic PlayStation games, including Ape Escape and Gran Turismo, which can be removed and displayed separately. A buildable Lego PlayStation controller is also included, adding to its collector appeal. According to PlayStation Blog, further hidden secrets are integrated within the set.
This collaboration marks a celebration of PlayStation's 30th anniversary. The Lego PlayStation set will be available through PlayStation Direct in the US, UK, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and Portugal starting October 1. Early access for Lego Insiders and availability in all Lego stores will commence on October 4.
The retail price for the Lego replica is set at $179.99 in the US, £139.99 in the UK, and €159.99 in Europe. This follows a trend of collaborations between gaming companies and Lego, with previous sets featuring Nintendo's Donkey Kong and a recent Original Xbox build from Mattel Brick Shop.
Alongside the Lego PlayStation reveal, limited edition Grand Theft Auto 6 PS5 controllers were also announced and are expected to be available for order later this month.
