The Lego Group has announced a new Batmobile set inspired by Tim Burton’s 1992 film, Batman Returns. This collectible model, designed for adult fans, marks the first time the distinctive vehicle from Burton's film has been rendered in Lego brick form.
The 2,269-piece set is priced at $229.99 and measures four inches high, 17 inches long, and 6.5 inches wide. It features authentic details and an innovative transformation function, allowing the vehicle to convert into the sleeker Batmissile, mirroring a memorable sequence from the movie. The press release highlights that the Lego design team developed three new Lego elements specifically for this set, including a new cowl for the Batman minifigure. The set is rated for ages 18 and older, targeting adult enthusiasts nostalgic for Michael Keaton's portrayal of the Caped Crusader.
Beyond its transformative capability, the set includes six hidden Easter eggs, offering fans of the film additional details to discover. This Batmobile joins Lego's ongoing series of Batman display models, following previous builds such as the Arkham Asylum set. Lego has previously released models of other Batmobile variants, including the one featured in Christopher Nolan's films.
The release of this Lego set coincides with a period of renewed activity for Batman in other media. Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, a game released in May, received positive reception with an 83 Metacritic score and an "Overwhelmingly Positive" user rating on Steam, described as a spiritual successor to the Batman Arkham series with an open-world design and similar combat.
Additionally, the animated series Batman: Caped Crusader recently debuted its second season, and the highly anticipated film The Batman: Part 2, a sequel to the 2022 reboot starring Robert Pattinson, has begun filming. The latter is slated for release on February 18, 2028.
The Lego Batman Returns Batmobile set is scheduled to be available for Lego Insiders on September 1, 2026, with a general release on September 4, 2026.
