Lego has officially revealed a new, gargantuan addition to its Star Wars collection: the Executor Super Star Destroyer set, inspired by Darth Vader's flagship from "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back." The set, comprising 6,130 pieces, does not surpass Lego's largest Star Wars sets in sheer piece count, but it has set a new record as the longest Lego Star Wars brick-built model to date.
This new Executor Super Star Destroyer measures an impressive 53.5 inches (136 cm) in length, a considerable feat achieved through an innovative design that combines a Lego System core with slender Lego Technic outriggers to support the exterior panels. The design team focused on intricate detailing, featuring dense "greebling" on the central hull contrasted with sleek side panels. A newly designed decorated tile graphic, used extensively across the model, mimics the look of tiny hull lights and central detailing, creating an appearance of organic randomness.
The set also includes smaller-scale models of a standard Star Destroyer and the Millennium Falcon for contextual reference. When released, the Executor Super Star Destroyer set will be priced at $799.99, with equivalent pricing of £649.99 / €749.99.
In addition to the main build, the set comes with seven Lego minifigures, including Darth Vader. To commemorate a specific scene from "The Empire Strikes Back," Lego has included minifigure versions of the six bounty hunters featured in the film: Boba Fett, Dengar, Bossk, IG-88, 4-LOM, and Zuckuss. A minifig-scale version of the Executor's bridge is also included, allowing for the recreation of the iconic bounty hunter gathering.
Lego will offer a gift with purchase for early buyers: the Lego Darth Vader's Lightsaber set (product number 40897). This promotional item will be available from October 1st to October 7th, while supplies last, for customers who purchase the new Executor Super Star Destroyer set. The Executor Super Star Destroyer set itself is scheduled for release on October 1st and will be available through Lego Stores and LEGO.com/Star-Wars. The set is intended for ages 18+ and weighs over 11 pounds (5 kg).
