The studio behind the recently released Soulslike game Lies of P has announced a name change, rebranding from Round8 Studio to Nough. The developer, a subsidiary of publisher Neowiz, revealed the new identity in a 16-minute mini-documentary that also highlighted its ambitions for the in-production sequel to Lies of P.

The new name, Nough, is a portmanteau of "Not Enough," reflecting the studio's ongoing pursuit of game development excellence. The documentary suggests Nough will uphold the development philosophy of its predecessor, operating under the motto "Games by Gamers."

While details about the Lies of P sequel remain scarce, Nough's development team expressed a clear vision for the project. Combat director Lee Jeonghyeon stated, "From the very start, my goal has been to create the world's greatest action game. And we're getting there, one step at a time." Overall director Choi Jiwon echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the team's desire to match the passion poured into the original game and create an experience they themselves would enjoy playing.

Choi also touched upon Nough's unique development and testing process. The studio streams playtests of current builds to the entire company at major milestones and holds regular "Game Days" where all staff put aside their usual work to play and provide feedback through surveys. This approach was credited with influencing Lies of P's difficulty modes and leading to significant adjustments in the project codenamed Overture. Nough has expressed confidence in this iterative process, with Choi encouraging fans to trust their dedication and promising not to disappoint with the upcoming sequel.

Initial reactions to Nough's work have been positive. While one review found Lies of P to be good but not exceptional, positive feedback has surfaced regarding the Overture expansion, with some anticipating the sequel based on its strength.
