Capcom is preparing to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Resident Evil franchise with a special exhibition in Shibuya, Japan. A key attraction will be a newly commissioned life-sized statue of Leon S. Kennedy, one of the series' most recognizable protagonists.
The statue will join other large-scale Capcom character figures at the company's corporate offices and retail spaces, such as Ryu from Street Fighter and a Palico from Monster Hunter. The announcement has already sparked considerable online discussion among fans, with many humorously speculating about the statue's security.
The Resident Evil 30th Anniversary Exhibition is scheduled to run from October 30 to December 24, 2026, at the Shibuya BEAM Gallery. Tickets went on sale August 3.
While details for many of the exhibition's activities remain under wraps, the announced attractions include "Evidence of Horror," a gallery showcasing detailed life-sized models of iconic Resident Evil items and creatures. Complementing this is "Memories of Those Who Stood Against Them," an area dedicated to the series' heroes and protagonists, which will feature Leon's statue. Attendees will also experience "The World of Resident Evil Theater," a screening designed to enhance immersion before entering the main exhibit.
Resident Evil has seen renewed attention recently, with the success of "Resident Evil Village" (referred to as "Requiem" in notes) and the "Resident Evil 4 Remake" amassing significant wishlists on Steam. A new film adaptation is also slated for release this September.
