Lifeweaver, Overwatch 2's newest support hero, was removed from the game on Friday due to an "identified gameplay issue," Blizzard announced. The character is unavailable for selection in matches, and his cosmetics are inaccessible in the hero gallery. The developer stated that Lifeweaver will return once a fix is implemented.
This abrupt removal left some players, particularly those who main Lifeweaver, struggling to adapt. Many expressed their frustration and disappointment on social media, lamenting the inability to utilize Lifeweaver's unique abilities, such as his Life Grip and Petal Platform, to support their teammates. The absence of the plant-based healer meant some players were forced to select different heroes, even mid-match for those caught in competitive games at the time of removal.
While Blizzard has not detailed the specific bug that led to Lifeweaver's removal, speculation among the community suggests it may be related to a glitch involving his Petal Platform. Reports indicate the platform could, under certain circumstances, push other heroes out of the map boundaries.
As of Monday, Lifeweaver has yet to be reinstated. Players are adapting by utilizing other support heroes like Brigitte and Mizuki in his stead, while eagerly awaiting his return to the battlefield.
