A limited edition translucent green Xbox Series X, created to commemorate Xbox's 25th anniversary, is reportedly scheduled for release on Black Friday, November 27. According to French website Dealabs' leaker billbil-kun, the console, officially dubbed the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition, will carry a price tag of €899.99, which equates to approximately $899.99 USD.

This pricing places the special edition console at €100 more than a standard 1TB Xbox Series X with a disc drive. In Europe, it is also priced identically to the anticipated PS5 Pro. While specific UK pricing has not yet been revealed, the PS5 Pro is expected to cost around £789.99, suggesting the limited edition Xbox could be priced similarly. If so, this would make the console at least £100 more expensive than the standard disc-drive Series X, which retails for £669.99.

The premium cost is attributed to the console's "murky green" translucent casing, allowing a view of its internal components, and a matching controller finished in the same transparent style. The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition was first showcased during Microsoft's Xbox Games Showcase earlier this summer.

The announcement and potential release of this special edition console occur amidst significant restructuring within the Xbox division. This reorganization has led to the elimination of 1,600 jobs, with further layoffs expected by next summer. The changes have also resulted in the separation of first-party studios from Xbox and the downsizing of others, impacting game development and staff morale.

This follows a period where Microsoft substantially increased the prices of its Xbox consoles. The Xbox Series S saw its price rise from £300 to £430, and the disc-drive Xbox Series X increased from £500 to £670. These earlier price hikes were largely attributed to a global shortage of memory and storage components, exacerbated by high demand from AI data centers. Xbox boss Asha Sharma has previously indicated that this component pricing crisis is expected to continue, potentially doubling by fall 2027, which will affect the pricing and availability of future Xbox machines.
