The Pokémon Trading Card Game is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a series of special products, and a unique Mewtwo promotional card will be among the limited releases. This special card, illustrated by artist Nagisimo, will not be found within the standard anniversary booster packs. Instead, it will be offered as a gift with purchase at select U.S. retailers.

To obtain the Mewtwo promo card, players will need to spend at least $15 at participating GameStop, Best Buy, Hot Topic, Five Below, Barnes & Noble, Macy’s, or BoxLunch locations. The promotion begins on October 2, 2026, coinciding with the release of the second wave of 30th anniversary TCG products. This second batch includes themed mini tins containing two packs, a sticker sheet, and an art card, as well as official Booster Bundles with six packs.

Fans are advised to plan their acquisition early, as similar limited-time promotional card releases have seen stock deplete quickly. The 2026 Worlds promo, which offered a San Francisco-themed Pikachu card, sold out rapidly at many participating stores. Competition for the Mewtwo card is expected to be particularly high at retailers like GameStop and Best Buy, where players may also be seeking other anniversary merchandise.

While the broader 30th anniversary set does feature a Mewtwo card, it is designated as a Future Rare and is anticipated to be difficult to pull from packs. The Nagisimo-illustrated promo card presents an alternative for fans looking to add a special Mewtwo to their collection.

The initial wave of 30th anniversary Pokémon TCG products is scheduled for release on September 16. Players anticipating a hectic launch are encouraged to consult their local card shops regarding their specific release plans.
