Microsoft is rumored to be releasing a limited-edition Xbox Series X to celebrate the brand's 25th anniversary, with a potential launch date of November 27. According to Dealabs, this special version of the console is expected to retail for $900, a significant increase over the standard model.
This premium pricing places the anniversary Xbox Series X at the same cost as a PlayStation 5 Pro, though the Xbox version includes a disc drive. The console sports a distinctive translucent green finish that offers a view of its internal components. Microsoft states that owners will also find hidden Easter eggs integrated into the chassis. The limited edition comes with 1TB of storage, a reduction from the 2TB capacity previously offered on the standard Xbox Series X, a change attributed to rising memory costs.
The accompanying controller for the anniversary edition will also be available for individual purchase. It features design elements that pay homage to Xbox's legacy, including the original face button colors and rear bumpers inspired by the black-and-white buttons of the original Xbox 'Duke' controller.
This release arrives as Microsoft has previously indicated potential future price increases for Xbox consoles, citing ongoing supply chain issues related to AI-driven components impacting the cost of console storage and memory. These factors have already led to the discontinuation of the 2TB Xbox Series X.
