Scopely has announced that its mobile game, Looney Tunes: World of Mayhem, will shut down on October 15, 2026. The decision to cease operations for the game, developed by the studio known for titles like Monopoly Go and Pokemon Go, was made after considerable deliberation, according to a blog post from the developers.
Upon its shutdown, World of Mayhem will no longer be playable. Players will be able to spend any in-game currency they possess until August 16, with the game being delisted from digital stores on the same date. The game's social channels will also be disabled on August 16. The developers expressed sadness about the closure, acknowledging the strong community that formed around the game.
"This isn’t an easy goodbye. For years, this community has built alliances that turned into real friendships, fought through wars together, and enjoyed plenty of laughs along the way," the developers stated. "We’ve watched Toonsters grow from strangers into teammates, and from teammates into true friends. We don’t take that lightly, and it’s with real sadness that we say goodbye to this wonderful community."
To commemorate the game and its players, Scopely is implementing several initiatives leading up to the October 15 shutdown. Starting July 15, daily giveaways will be rolled out, offering in-game items such as toons and WB Charms as a thank you to the community. Additionally, alongside regular weekly events, players will be able to claim free Toon Pieces for newly released characters from the store, an effort to show appreciation for sustained support.
Launched in 2018, Looney Tunes: World of Mayhem allowed players to collect and battle with iconic Looney Tunes characters such as Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. This impending closure occurs amidst broader industry news, including ongoing attempts to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery, the intellectual property holder for Looney Tunes.
