CI Games has announced that Lords of the Fallen 2 has been delayed from its previously planned fall release to early 2027. The decision, according to CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski, is intended to allow for "additional integration, iteration, and polishing time" to enhance the final product. This revised schedule also strategically positions the game outside of the highly competitive holiday release period.
Tyminski explained on X that valuable input from a dedicated Gameplay Feedback Team, comprised of veteran souls-like players, has revealed opportunities for further refinement. "These enhancements will benefit from additional integration, iteration, and polishing time, enabling the team to deliver the highest possible quality at launch," he stated.
While a specific release date within early 2027 has not yet been provided, the delay effectively moves Lords of the Fallen 2 away from the significant market impact expected from the November launch of Grand Theft Auto 6. This strategic sidestep is not uncommon in the industry, as developers often adjust release schedules to avoid direct competition with major titles. Examples include the shifting dates of Grand Theft Auto 6 itself, the surprise release of Hollow Knight: Silksong, and Baldur's Gate 3 launching ahead of Starfield in 2023. The industry has also seen major releases like Cyberpunk 2077 aim for significant impact during holiday seasons in the past.
