Love and Deepspace Warns Players Against Consuming Fictional Poisonous Cocktails

The developers behind the RPG-dating sim Love and Deepspace have issued a warning to players after a series of in-game cocktail recipes, designed as part of a recent event, were shared on social media. The five 'Shimmering Blend' cocktails, each themed around a game character, featured garnishes that are poisonous to humans, prompting concern among the player base.

One recipe included pomegranate juice with datura, a highly poisonous and psychoactive plant known to cause delirium, fever, rapid heart rate, and hallucinations. Another featured sweet peach juice garnished with a flame lily, a plant where all parts contain colchicine, a chemical that can be lethal if consumed, leading to symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and hypovolemic shock.

Players quickly pointed out the dangerous ingredients in the fictional recipes, with many urging the official Love and Deepspace social media account to remove the posts due to the risk of someone attempting to recreate them. Comments on the original posts expressed alarm, with one user stating, "Delete this. This is literal poison. Nobody make this." Another warned, "Don't try to recreate these drinks, they contain toxic plants! I can't believe this is posted as 'recipes.'"

In response to the growing concern, the Love and Deepspace account posted a follow-up notice stating, "All drinks shown are fictional and for in-game purposes only. Do not attempt to recreate or consume them in reality."

This incident occurs amidst ongoing player engagement regarding a previously announced but later canceled character named Valko. Fans have organized tributes, including creating shrines and protesting outside the developer's offices, to voice their desire for the character's return.
