Mads Mikkelsen Joins Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 as Campaign Trailer Reveals New Storylines

The campaign trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, revealed during Xbox's Tokyo Game Show broadcast, has confirmed the involvement of actor Mads Mikkelsen, known for his roles in Death Stranding and Hannibal.

Based on his character's interactions with Captain Price in the trailer, Mikkelsen appears poised to play a significant antagonist in the upcoming title. Activision's official blog further teases this narrative thread, referencing a "catastrophic weapon of war" being supplied to a dangerous enemy identified only as "The Archer." The publisher poses questions about the weapon's capabilities and The Archer's motivations for acquiring it, strongly suggesting Mikkelsen's character is central to this mystery.

Modern Warfare 4 will weave together two distinct storylines. One narrative thread will continue the established saga of Captain Price and Task Force 141. Complementing this, a new storyline will focus on a conflict that has erupted on the Korean Peninsula, introducing a fresh cast of characters, including Private Park, portrayed by Young Mazino of Beef and The Last of Us fame. How these separate plotlines will ultimately converge remains to be seen.

Players will have an opportunity to experience the campaign early, with early access beginning on October 16. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled for a full release on October 23, available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Nintendo Switch 2.
