Magic: The Gathering Foundations Commander Decks Confirmed for Reprints

Players struggling to acquire Magic: The Gathering's Foundations Commander decks will be pleased to learn that Wizards of the Coast intends to reprint them. The publisher confirmed that these mono-colored preconstructed decks are slated to become an "evergreen offering," meaning they will continue to be produced.

Brandon Kreines, game producer on Magic: The Gathering, stated that if players remain enthusiastic about the decks, they can expect reprints. These decks are designed as an introductory point into the Commander format, and continued production will help ensure they remain accessible at or near their Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). The news comes as some of the decks have experienced markups of over double their intended cost, with the mono-green Tramplesaurus Rex deck often being particularly hard to find.

The Foundations Commander decks do not contain any new cards, focusing instead on providing a cohesive gameplay experience within each color. As starter products, their ongoing availability is intended to benefit both new players looking to enter the Commander format affordably and the broader Magic: The Gathering community. Historically, starter Commander products have seen their prices rise significantly over time due to limited print runs, so a sustained reprint strategy for the Foundations decks could prevent similar market conditions.

This announcement follows recent news of reprints for the Magic: The Gathering Warhammer 40,000 Commander decks, indicating a broader trend of Wizards of the Coast addressing availability concerns for popular products within the game.
