Wizards of the Coast has unveiled the complete release schedule for Magic: The Gathering in 2027, detailing six new sets and four MagicCon events. The announcement, made at MagicCon Amsterdam, outlines a year filled with both original Multiverse storytelling and the continued expansion of its Universes Beyond collaborations.

The Universes Beyond line will see three sets released throughout 2027. The first is slated for April 9, followed by a second on August 6, and the third on November 19. While the specific themes for these sets remain undisclosed, speculation suggests a continued partnership with Marvel, potentially featuring the X-Men or Guardians of the Galaxy. Further details are expected to emerge in fall 2026 at MagicCon Atlanta.

Wizards of the Coast also provided more concrete information about the in-universe sets planned for 2027. The year begins on February 5 with the launch of "Nauctis: The Sunken Realm," an entirely new underwater world. This set promises a heavy presence of merfolk and aquatic themes.

Following this, on June 4, Magic will return to the plane of Kamigawa for "Kamigawa: Titanbreach." This set introduces a crossover where the monster-filled world of Ikoria invades Kamigawa, pitting massive monsters against mecha pilots in a scenario described as "Pacific Rim in Magic."

The final in-universe set of 2027 is "Zhalfir," scheduled for release on October 1. This will be the first set to focus on the Zhalfir plane, which was previously featured in the 2023 set "March of the Machines." Zhalfir is also noted as the home plane of the legendary Planeswalker Teferi, suggesting potential narrative developments for the character.
