Magic: The Gathering's upcoming crossover expansion with Star Trek is now available for pre-order at a discounted price on Amazon, offering a small but welcome reduction from its manufacturer's suggested retail price. The Play Booster Box is currently listed at $199.99, a reduction from its MSRP of $209.70.
This Universes Beyond set, celebrating the 60th anniversary of Star Trek, is scheduled for release on November 13. While pre-orders have been available for some time, this marks the first notable discount on the Play Booster Box from a major retailer. Amazon's "preorder price guarantee" ensures that customers will receive the lowest price offered between the time of their order and the release date, and payment is not collected until the item ships.
The Star Trek set is confirmed to introduce new mechanics alongside returning ones from previous Magic: The Gathering sets. Notably, the Spacecraft artifact subtype will reappear, featured on cards such as the U.S.S. Enterprise-D, Galaxy-Class. A unique aspect of this expansion is the inclusion of "Autograph" cards, which are exceptionally rare alternate art versions of creature cards. These cards feature handwritten autographs from the actors portraying characters like Captain Kirk and Captain Janeway. With only just over 200 of these worldwide, they are exclusively found in Collector Booster Packs, which are currently sold out at most retailers.
This promotional pricing follows a previous deal on the MTG x Star Trek Commander Deck bundle, which offered a significant saving of $75. However, that bundle has since sold out on Amazon. Separately, the four Commander decks would total $300 at their $75 individual price point.
For those interested in other Universes Beyond sets, discounts are also currently available on Magic: The Gathering's Marvel's Super Heroes expansion. The Marvel Bundle is priced at $59.86, and the Commander Deck Bundle, which includes all four decks, is available for $184.95. This pricing represents a saving compared to the individual MSRP of $74.99 per deck.
