Bungie has launched a new event for Marathon titled Ordnance Heist, which focuses on multi-run, multi-map objectives to reward players with a powerful, albeit temporary, weapon. This event begins today, August 18th, and will conclude on September 1st. The Ordnance Heist event follows the conclusion of the experimental PvE mode, Vault Breaker.
To acquire the Firestorm weapon, players must first engage in runs on the Perimeter map to gather UESC Manifests and key templates. Completing objectives on both the day and night versions of the Dire Marsh map with these templates will yield a Firestorm Locker key upon successful extraction. Players will need to collect three of these keys.
Once three keys are obtained, players can search for a Firestorm Locker on either Perimeter, Dire Marsh, or Outpost maps. Finding and opening this locker rewards the player with the Firestorm, Marathon's first power weapon. The Firestorm fires explosive rounds and comes equipped with three custom contraband mods: a sniper scope, an explosive round chip, and a six-shot custom magazine. Ammunition for the Firestorm is not replenishable, making it a strategic, last-resort option. The weapon cannot be kept beyond an extraction, converting into credits instead.
Manifests, collected during runs, can also be used to purchase up to two key templates daily, along with other rare and potent items. After the Ordnance Heist event concludes on September 1st, the Firestorm is slated to persist as a potential drop within Supply Drops on maps that feature them.
