Mario Kart World has received its latest update, version 1.7.0, introducing new routes to the Knockout Tour mode and adding stickers to the game's photo mode. The update is now available for the Nintendo Switch 2 title.

Knockout Tour mode, a relatively new addition to Mario Kart World, challenges players to race through a series of six tracks in a single, continuous event. The mode features five checkpoints, and any player in the bottom four positions at these points is eliminated. The update adds two new routes to this mode: Drill Rally and Boomerang Rally. Drill Rally connects Wario Shipyard to Bowser's Castle, while Boomerang Rally links Salty Salty Speedway to Whistlestop Summit. Both new routes are accessible to players who have completed at least one Knockout Tour rally.

When Knockout Tour first launched, player reception was varied. While the concept of a continuous race was appealing, the stretches of road between tracks were often criticized for being too straight, offering little opportunity for skillful overtaking beyond the use of power-ups. Despite these earlier criticisms, many players have expressed positive reactions to the new content on social media platforms.

In addition to the new Knockout Tour routes, update 1.7.0 also brings stickers to Mario Kart World's photo mode. Players can now add a variety of stickers directly within photo mode and combine them with existing frames to enhance their in-game screenshots. More details about this update can be found on the official Nintendo website.
