Marvel Comics has officially announced the first-ever crossover between the Star Wars and Marvel universes with the upcoming five-issue limited series, Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles. The series is written by Kevin Smith, known for his passion for both Marvel and Star Wars properties, and features art by David Marquez.

The narrative aims to bring together characters from Marvel's mainline Earth-616 continuity with the classic cast from the original Star Wars trilogy, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. This crossover is slated to be integrated directly into Marvel's established canon, a move that raises questions about how the existence of the Star Wars movie franchise within Marvel's universe will be addressed.

Kevin Smith expressed his long-held desire to see such a crossover, stating his excitement for the opportunity to bring together heroes and villains from both franchises. Michael Siglain, creative director at Lucasfilm Publishing, described the series as a "love letter to Star Wars, to Marvel, and to comics in general," promising an exciting and heartfelt experience.

Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles #1 is scheduled for release in January 2027 and is available for preorder at local comic shops. In related news, Marvel will also launch Star Wars: The Fall of Kylo Ren, a series detailing Ben Solo's journey between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker.
