Developer Tribute Games and publisher Dotemu have announced that Doctor Doom will be the central figure in the upcoming paid DLC, The Siege of Castle Doom, for their retro beat-'em-up Marvel Cosmic Invasion. The expansion is slated for release this fall.
According to a news release, The Siege of Castle Doom will feature an all-new game mode and introduce two new playable characters. While Doctor Doom himself is central to the DLC's theme, the developers have not yet confirmed if he will be a playable character. Similarly, the identities of the two new characters remain undisclosed.
This marks Marvel Cosmic Invasion's second DLC package. The game previously received a character pack that added Cyclops and The Thing to its roster, which already included established Marvel heroes like Spider-Man and Wolverine alongside less common figures such as Phyla-Vell and Beta Ray Bill.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion has been met with positive reception, holding an 84% Critics Recommend score on OpenCritic. Polygon's review highlighted the game's accessible nature, describing it as "a simple, easy-to-pick-up, enjoyable-to-replay action game — ideally played cooperatively."
The Siege of Castle Doom DLC is scheduled to launch in fall 2026 for Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. Specific release date and pricing details have not yet been announced. The DLC arrives as Doctor Doom is also set to play a significant role in the December release of Avengers: Doomsday.
