Reports indicate that Marvel Studios is secretly developing a new live-action series for Disney+. The project, reportedly operating under the production codename "Slumber Party," may introduce characters from either the Young Avengers or the New Mutants.

Marvel has established a production company named Veil Productions for this TV project. Historically, Marvel assigns a unique production company to each major endeavor, with these names often hinting at the project itself. "Veil" could reference the comics character Veil, a young member of the Avengers Academy, aligning with the "Slumber Party" codename which suggests a youthful setting. Alternatively, "Slumber Party" is also the title of New Mutants #21, a comic that introduced the character Warlock.

Marvel has reportedly considered a standalone Young Avengers project for several years. Teases of potential members have appeared across various Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, including Ms. Marvel, which showed Iman Vellani's Kamala Khan attempting to form a team with Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop and potentially recruiting Kathryn Newton's Cassie Lang. Other characters who could be included are America Chavez from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Patriot from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Riri Williams from Ironheart, and the Maximoff twins from Agatha and Vision Quest, as well as Hulk's son.

Speculation about an announcement regarding this project or other Marvel Television and Animation news is high for Marvel's "Up Next" panel at New York Comic-Con on October 8. This event is also expected to provide further details on Vision Quest and Daredevil: Born Again Season 3.

The potential development of a new live-action Disney+ series comes at a time when Marvel and Star Wars have notably slowed the pace of new series releases. Following a period where the studio was perceived to be prioritizing quantity over quality, evident in projects like Secret Invasion, Disney appears to be exercising greater financial control and implementing more rigorous quality checks on its productions.

A Young Avengers project could strategically align with the upcoming Avengers films, potentially focusing on the characters' development leading up to or during the events of Avengers: Doomsday, setting the stage for Avengers: Secret Wars. This follows recent reports of Noah Jupe joining the cast of Avengers: Secret Wars in an undisclosed role, which fans have already begun to speculate about.
