NetEase Games has revealed the first gameplay footage for Marvel Rivals' "Path to Doomsday - Avengers: Endgame" PvE mode, a new addition that pits 50 players against Thanos in a chaotic battle. The mode aims to recreate the epic final confrontation from the Marvel Cinematic Universe film, featuring heroes like Captain America and Iron Man facing Thanos and his legion on a devastated landscape, with Thanos wielding a massive sword capable of instantly defeating opponents.
This large-scale PvE experience diverges from Marvel Rivals' typical six-versus-six multiplayer matches. However, NetEase Games has been steadily expanding the game's player counts and modes. The studio previously introduced a four-player PvE zombie mode and already supports an 18-versus-18 player mode. The game's Times Square Hub also allows up to 100 players to congregate. The "Path to Doomsday - Avengers: Endgame" mode is scheduled to launch with the game's upcoming Season 10.5 update on October 23.
Season 10.5 will also introduce the "Path to Doomsday - Avengers: Infinity War" mode, a variant where six teams of two players compete while acquiring upgrades and Infinity Stones. An unrevealed Halloween event, "Night of Illusions," described as an interactive puzzle, is also planned. This season saw the addition of the God Quarry map and numerous new skins. Notably, Season 10 features only one new hero, Gorr the God Butcher, a departure from the usual pace of adding a new character each month, as NetEase Games aims to focus on developing new modes.
Marvel Rivals is available as a free-to-play title on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version also in development. The next Avengers film, Avengers: Doomsday, is slated for release on December 18.
