PlayStation 5 players of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 can now don the "Fresh Start" suit, inspired by Tom Holland's costume in the recently released Spider-Man: Brand New Day film. This new cosmetic addition, along with the Spider-Man costume from Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, arrived today as part of update version 1.005.000 from developer Insomniac Games.
The update also brings support for Enhanced PSSR on the PlayStation 5 Pro and introduces a Power Saver mode. This Power Saver mode, when manually enabled in supported games, will reduce the console's power consumption by scaling back performance. Sony initially announced this feature for select PS5 titles last year.
Insomniac Games has a history of regularly providing new suits for its Spider-Man titles through free updates. The arrival of these two new costumes continues that trend. The studio is also developing Marvel's Wolverine, which is slated for an exclusive release on PS5 on September 15.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day officially premiered in theaters on July 31, with previews beginning the day before. Early critical reactions shared on social media have been largely positive, with projections indicating a strong box office opening, potentially becoming the year's biggest launch.
