Marvel's Wolverine Features Adjustable Slow-Motion for Cinematic Gameplay

Marvel's Wolverine offers players the ability to control the game's speed, enabling a hyper-cinematic slow-motion effect during gameplay. This feature is part of an expansive accessibility menu developed by Insomniac Games.

Players can map the game speed toggle to any button on their controller, allowing them to switch between normal speed and a custom secondary speed. Some players have reportedly assigned this function to their D-pad, setting the secondary speed to 30% to achieve a pronounced slow-motion effect. This control allows for more deliberate presentation of action, such as observing blood splatter in detail or extending the impact of Wolverine's claws before returning to full speed.

This functionality mirrors an option present in Insomniac's previous title, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which allowed players to capture stylized web-swinging animations and visually striking moments. The slow-motion feature is noted for its potential to facilitate creators in producing unique gameplay footage.

Marvel's Wolverine launched after a five-year development period. IGN's review of the game awarded it a 6/10, citing strong foundational elements but a lack of sustained variety. The review noted that while the combat is slick and satisfying, it eventually becomes repetitive, and strong character work alone could not elevate the experience beyond mediocrity.

Insomniac Games has stated its commitment to refining the player experience based on post-launch feedback. Liam McIntyre, the voice actor for Wolverine, has addressed some of the criticism, expressing pride in the team's work and noting his past experience with player backlash.

The game also features numerous guides and resources, including tips for new players, a curated list of the best adaptations, and methods for quickly earning experience points. A full walkthrough covering all missions and detailed collectibles guides are also available.
