Sony has announced a limited edition PlayStation 5 console bundle and accompanying accessories themed around the upcoming exclusive title, Marvel's Wolverine. The collection, set to launch on September 15 alongside the game, features a striking yellow design inspired by Wolverine's classic suit, complete with a claw slash motif on both the console and controller, and a Wolverine emblem.
This limited edition will be available as a PlayStation 5 Digital Edition Bundle, which includes the console and a DualSense Wireless Controller. Notably, the bundle does not include a vertical stand, despite its appearance in promotional images. The price for the bundle is set at $649.99 USD, £569.99 GBP, €649.99 EUR, and ¥96,980 JPY.
For players who do not wish to purchase a new console, Sony will also offer console cover plates for existing PS5 (Slim) and PS5 Pro models. These plates will be available in the "Battle Yellow" to match the main design, and for the PS5 Pro, an additional "Adamantium" silver-white option will be offered. The accompanying DualSense Wireless Controller will also be available separately in both "Battle Yellow" and "Adamantium" colorways. The console covers are priced at $74.99 USD, £64.99 GBP, €74.99 EUR, and ¥9,980 JPY, while the standalone controllers will cost $84.99 USD, £74.99 GBP, €84.99 EUR, and ¥12,480 JPY.
The announcement has reignited discussions surrounding Sony's recent decision to phase out physical disc support for new PS5 games starting in 2028. Despite Marvel's Wolverine itself confirmed to include a physical disc, the absence of a disc drive version in the limited edition console bundle has led some fans to express disappointment, with comments on social media lamenting the perceived deprioritization of physical media.
