Marvel's Wolverine PS5 Pre-Orders Now Live with September 2026 Release Date

Pre-orders for Marvel's Wolverine, a PlayStation 5 exclusive developed by Insomniac Games, are now available ahead of its September 15th, 2026 release. The game will be offered in two editions: a Standard Edition priced at $69.99/£62.99 and a Digital Deluxe Edition for $79.99/£74.99. The latter is exclusively available on the PlayStation Store and includes additional in-game content.

The Standard Edition includes the base game. Those who pre-order this edition will receive the Classic Brown Suit, Reflective Claws, four PlayStation Avatars, and one additional Technique Point. This edition is available physically from various retailers.

The Digital Deluxe Edition, a $10/£10 premium over the Standard Edition, bundles all pre-order bonuses with several exclusive items. These include five unique suits: Incredible Savage, Age of Apocalypse, Night Hunt, New Leather, and another unlisted suit. It also features five exclusive claw skins: Smooth-Edged, Hollow Blade, Thick, Serrated Spine, and Tapered. Additionally, this edition grants three extra Technique Points. Notably, the Digital Deluxe Edition perks can also be purchased separately as an upgrade, allowing players who acquire the game at a lower price point to still obtain the additional content.

Marvel's Wolverine has been in development for a considerable time, initially teased in September 2021. Insomniac, known for its work on the Ratchet & Clank and Marvel's Spider-Man series, has confirmed that the game will be more linear than its Spider-Man counterpart. A recent gameplay reveal showcased the title's brutal combat, featuring a detailed damage system with regional accuracy, allowing for dismemberment and visible wear on enemy armor and suits. Players will have the option to adjust the game's gore settings, including disabling blood effects and limb removal, to tailor the experience.

The developers have also implemented a system where Wolverine can be defeated, though his regenerative abilities make him resilient. This design choice aims to reflect the character's comic book resilience, allowing him to endure extreme damage. The game will feature other Marvel characters, including Jean Grey, Mystique, and Sabretooth, with the potential for a Spider-Man cameo. Interactions with these characters are said to vary based on their established relationships within the Marvel universe.

Insomniac's creative director, Marcus Smith, has stated that the game's brutality is essential to remaining true to the Wolverine character. A recent interview with Eurogamer's Robert Purchese further explored the game's violent nature and its necessity for character authenticity.
