Insomniac Games has released a hotfix for Marvel's Wolverine that adjusts the game's controversial scent trail feature. The update, version 01.001.005, decreases the opacity of the bright blue lines, which players use to track objectives and collectibles, making them less prominent on screen. The developer has also reduced the intensity of the audio sense indicators.
These visual cues, which some players have colloquially referred to as "fart gas," have been a subject of online discussion and criticism since before the game's launch. Players had requested an option to disable them due to their perceived distraction. In a blog post announcing the hotfix, Insomniac Games stated that it is exploring the possibility of adding a full toggle for the senses feature in a future update, and is continuing to evaluate ways to improve its implementation.
The patch also resolves an issue causing game crashes that affected a small percentage of players. While official sales figures have not yet been released by Sony, initial estimates place Marvel's Wolverine's sales at approximately 1.9 million copies. This figure includes digital pre-orders and launch day sales, generating an estimated $130 million in revenue so far. Physical sales accounted for 22.9 percent of these initial sales, a lower proportion compared to Insomniac's Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which saw 35 percent of its sales from physical copies.
