Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has stated that actor Adam Driver has repeatedly turned down opportunities to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In an interview with Joshua Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Feige revealed that while he has made efforts to bring Driver into the MCU, the actor has declined every project offered.
Feige described the process as a recurring tradition: "It's a tradition to Zoom with him, and then he passes," he quipped. While specific projects have not been officially confirmed by either party, Driver was reportedly Marvel's initial choice for the role of Reed Richards in 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps,' a part that ultimately went to Pedro Pascal.
Currently, Driver is the subject of widespread speculation regarding the MCU's upcoming X-Men reboot. Initial rumors suggested he was cast as a villain, with subsequent reports varying on whether he would portray Magneto or Mister Sinister. Other insider accounts have proposed roles such as William Stryker, a character featured in the comic storyline 'God Loves, Man Kills,' which inspired earlier X-Men films.
Marvel Studios is expected to provide further updates on its upcoming projects during its San Diego Comic-Con presentation in Hall H on Saturday, July 25.
