Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, the forthcoming tag-team fighting game from PlayStation and Arc System Works, has been made unavailable in 132 countries. This widespread regional block appears to stem from Sony's PlayStation Network (PSN) access requirements, which are preventing players in these territories from purchasing the game on Steam.
The full list of affected countries, as detailed by SteamDB, includes Afghanistan, Haiti, Serbia, and Zimbabwe, among many others. While an official reason for the block has not been provided by the developers, the online community has pointed to the fact that the PlayStation Network is not accessible in any of the 132 listed regions as the probable cause.
This situation is not unprecedented for PlayStation-linked titles. In 2024, developer Arrowhead Studios encountered a similar issue with Helldivers 2, where a lack of PSN access threatened to block the game in numerous regions. Sony ultimately reversed its decision regarding that title, opting not to enforce the PSN requirement for either the PlayStation 5 or PC versions.
Despite Sony's earlier course correction with Helldivers 2, the 132 countries affected by the Marvel Tokon block represent a significant number of potential players on PlayStation 5 who will be unable to access the game at launch. Arc System Works has not yet issued a public statement regarding the controversy, though inquiries have been made.
Sony Interactive Entertainment has faced scrutiny recently for its platform strategies. An internal document suggested a potential shift away from releasing single-player titles on PC, and the company also announced an end to physical disc production for new games in early 2028. The current regional restrictions for Marvel Tokon add another point of contention for players.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is slated for release on August 6, 2026, for both PC and PlayStation 5. The game is set to feature iconic Marvel characters such as Captain America, Iron Man, and Spider-Man, with recent announcements confirming the inclusion of Blade, Deadpool, Loki, Carnage, Green Goblin, and Magneto.
