Arc System Works has released a patch for the PC version of Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls that addresses several performance issues plaguing the Steam release. The update aims to reduce CPU load, fix stuttering, and improve overall stability for players on PC.
Since its launch on August 6, the PC version of Marvel Tōkon has been subject to reports of significant performance problems, including online lag and general slowdowns. These issues were prominent enough that some community figures, like streamer Maximilian Dood, uninstalled the game live on stream. Following the recent maintenance period, players are reporting a much smoother experience, with many stating that the patch has resolved previously encountered problems.
Specific improvements detailed in the patch notes include a reduction in overall CPU usage, which was reportedly high during the startup process and exacerbated by periodic audio processing during matches. The update also targets sudden performance drops caused by the game unnecessarily checking for available audio inputs, as well as frame rate drops that occurred when certain resolutions were selected.
Beyond performance fixes, the patch also addresses some gameplay and online lobby issues. A bug that caused battle settings to revert to default after restarting the game with certain customization items or colors enabled has been fixed. Additionally, an issue where attack button displays were changed to action icons, leading to unresponsive buttons in open lobby mini-games, has been resolved.
Upon updating to the latest version, PC players will be prompted to warm up shaders for an optimized experience. The game also features an improved auto graphics quality setting that better detects a system's specifications to select an appropriate graphics profile. These adjustments aim to bring the PC version of Marvel Tōkon closer to the performance experienced on other platforms, potentially allowing for broader cross-platform play.
