Marvel Unlimited App to Be Replaced by New Webtoon-Managed Marvel Comics App

Marvel Unlimited, the digital comics subscription service that has served fans for 19 years, is set to be retired in December. Marvel announced that the app will be replaced by a new Marvel Comics app managed by Webtoon, a popular digital comics platform. The transition aims to offer an improved reading experience and broader content access.

The Marvel Unlimited app will cease adding new content on December 7 and will be fully removed from digital storefronts on December 28. Ahead of this shutdown, the new Marvel Comics app, developed in collaboration with Webtoon, is scheduled to launch on November 16. This new platform will house over 35,000 Marvel Comics issues.

Subscribers to Marvel Unlimited will have the ability to import their existing digital libraries and reading history into the new Marvel Comics app once it becomes available. However, Marvel has stated that current payment information will not be transferred to Webtoon. Existing Marvel Unlimited subscribers will need to establish a new subscription for the Marvel Comics app and will receive prorated refunds for any unused subscription time on or around November 16.

Webtoon, a digital comics reader platform owned by South Korea's Naver Corporation, originally focused on user-created content but has since expanded through partnerships with major publishers, including Marvel, DC, and Dark Horse. The Walt Disney Corporation acquired a minority stake in Webtoon in September 2025, with plans to feature Marvel, Star Wars, Disney, Pixar, and 20th Century Studios comics on the platform. The upcoming Marvel Comics app is the first significant integration of this partnership.

Content from Disney, Pixar, and 20th Century Studios is expected to be added to the Marvel Comics app in the coming months. The new app will offer two subscription tiers: a standard option at $9.99 per month or $69.99 annually, which provides access to new issues up to three months after their print release, and an Ultimate tier at $12.49 per month or $99.99 annually, offering new issues as early as one month after print. A limited-time Founder Member offer for the Ultimate annual plan will be available for $59.99 for the first year, with pre-registration details to be announced on marvel.webtoon.com and at New York Comic Con 2026.
