Marvel Studios took center stage at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, delivering a flurry of announcements during its Hall H panel on July 25. The presentation included updates on upcoming films, new release dates, and significant casting news, alongside fresh glimpses of the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday.
Ghost Rider Takes Flight
Director Shawn Levy, known for his recent directorial work on Deadpool & Wolverine, is set to helm a standalone Ghost Rider film scheduled for release in 2028. Ryan Gosling has been confirmed to star as the titular character. Gosling's casting follows his appearances in Project Hail Mary and the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter, also directed by Levy. The film will explore the origins of the demon-hunting motorcyclist within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Black Panther 3 Enters New Era
Marvel also announced that Black Panther 3 will arrive in theaters on December 15, 2028. Director Ryan Coogler's next installment will not recast the role of T'Challa. Instead, the film will focus on T'Challa's son, who will be portrayed by David Jonsson, an actor from The Long Walk. While Denzel Washington had previously indicated a potential role in the film, his involvement was not confirmed during the panel.
Avengers: Doomsday and Beyond
A new trailer for Avengers: Doomsday was showcased, offering a look at the villain's backstory narrated by Sue Storm. The footage reportedly features a confrontation between Reed Richards and Doom, with Doom delivering a chilling line: "I swear you will beg for hell long before I grant it." The trailer concludes with the resurrection of Sentinel robots.
Ryan Reynolds made a surprise appearance as Deadpool, clad in his costume, to playfully inquire about potential reshoots. While his presence generated excitement, it remains unclear if his role in Avengers: Doomsday will be more than a brief cameo.
Exclusive footage from Spider-Man: Brand New Day was also revealed, depicting Tom Holland's Spider-Man and Jon Bernthal's Punisher teaming up to retrieve an inhibitor for the Hulk. These scenes suggest that Hulk-related conflicts in the film will lean towards lighter, comedic tones.
Nova Movie Confirmed
Kevin Feige seemingly confirmed the development of a Nova movie in an interview on the show floor, responding to persistent rumors. While not officially featured on Marvel's presentation schedules, the film is reportedly in development, with Deadline previously reporting on a Nova Corps movie.
