Mass Effect trilogy composer Sam Hulick has announced his intention to rescore the recently leaked internal trailer for the cancelled Mass Effect Universe game. The trailer, originally intended for EA and BioWare management, showcased the direction of the now-defunct fifth installment in the series, with its music and assets not meant for public consumption.
Hulick shared his plan on X, formerly Twitter, stating, "Alright. My plan is to release the re-scored Mass Effect Universe trailer for N7 Day. A little tight, since I'm a bit busy pitching for a new game, but I'll see what I can do! I don't wanna rush it, and I want it to properly represent my musical vision for MEU."
This endeavor comes as other composers have also shared their work related to the project. Austin Wintory, known for his scores in Journey and Hades 2, recently shared 20 minutes of music he had previously presented to BioWare staff in 2025, hoping to contribute to Mass Effect Universe.
The news follows a period of significant restructuring at BioWare and its parent company, EA. Last week saw the closure of BioWare's Edmonton studio, impacting 50 employees. This was part of broader layoffs affecting hundreds across EA, occurring several months after the company's acquisition by Saudi Arabia's Savvy Games Group and Jared Kushner's private equity firm.
