Matt Damon's portrayal of Odysseus is set to enter the world of Fortnite, with the character's skin appearing in the game's item shop on Thursday, July 16. This addition follows Fortnite's next major update.
The character skin is based on Matt Damon's likeness, as shown in footage released by Epic Games. Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR also revealed an image of a second skin, Agamemnon, inspired by Benny Safdie's depiction of the character in the same project. Both skins are scheduled for release on July 16.
Players will have an opportunity to obtain the Odysseus skin for free through an in-game tournament. Those who do not win the tournament can still receive an Odyssey-themed loading screen as a reward for low-ranking entries.
The inclusion of Odysseus in Fortnite continues a trend of historical and mythological figures appearing in the game. This crossover also coincides with the release of an AI-generated film adaptation of Homer's 'The Odyssey', directed by Christopher Nolan, which is set to debut in theaters on July 17, 2026. Nolan has stated that the film aims to move beyond outdated cultural perspectives on the ancient world and features a large-scale practical Cyclops effect.
