Clutch, New Open-World Racer From Ex-Forza Horizon Developers, Set for First Gameplay Reveal

Maverick Games is set to reveal the first live gameplay of its upcoming open-world action-driving game, Clutch, this Thursday, June 25. The livestream will commence at 9am PDT, noon EDT, 5pm BST, and 2am AEST on Friday, June 26.

Studio founder and Clutch creative director Mike Brown, who previously served as principal game designer for Forza Horizon 4 and creative director for Forza Horizon 5, will host the event. He will be joined by art director Ben Penrose, who held associate art director roles on the original Forza Horizon and served as art director for Forza Horizon 2 through Forza Horizon 5.

The broadcast aims to provide viewers with a look at the game's narrative elements and its cast of characters. It will also highlight the R1K pro circuit, the underground street racing scene known as the Midnight Collective, and the high-speed pursuits and heists that will be featured in the game.

Clutch is set along the French Riviera, featuring three distinct city hubs: Monaco, Cannes, and Saint-Tropez. The gameplay is described as a blend of exotic open-world driving, circuit racing, street racing, and action-oriented heists. These heists will incorporate unique gadgets, such as a grappling hook, creating a fusion of styles reminiscent of Forza Horizon, Need for Speed, and the Fast & Furious franchise.

The game is scheduled to launch in Spring 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
