Kojima Productions' 2008 title, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, is being revisited by Game Informer through a new "Super Replay" event. Originally conceived as the concluding chapter for Hideo Kojima's acclaimed Metal Gear saga, the game tasked itself with resolving decades of intricate storytelling. It brought together a vast ensemble of characters, including Solid Snake, Ocelot, Otacon, and Raiden, for a climactic finale.
The narrative focuses on an aging Solid Snake as he races against time to thwart his nemesis and twin brother, Liquid Snake. The game was lauded for its compelling narrative, cinematic presentation, and advancements in its signature stealth gameplay, notably the introduction of the OctoCamo suit, which enabled Snake to camouflage himself by mimicking the textures of his surroundings. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots achieved significant critical acclaim, earning a rare perfect 10/10 score from Game Informer.
Players can now re-experience Metal Gear Solid 4 without the need for a PlayStation 3, thanks to its inclusion in the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2. The Super Replay event features Charles Harte, a recent convert to the Metal Gear series, experiencing Guns of the Patriots for the first time. He is joined by Marcus Stewart, a long-time series enthusiast who is returning to the game after more than a decade. The stream commenced today on Twitch and YouTube at 11 a.m. PT/2 p.m. ET and is scheduled to continue weekly until the game's conclusion.
