Kojima Productions' Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, originally released in 2008, is being revisited in a new "Super Replay" stream hosted by Game Informer. The game was presented as a culmination of Hideo Kojima's work on the series, aiming to conclude the sprawling narrative that featured characters such as Solid Snake, Ocelot, Otacon, and Raiden.
The story follows an aged Solid Snake as he races against time to thwart his twin brother and rival, Liquid Snake. The game was praised upon release for its narrative, cinematic presentation, and advancements in stealth gameplay, including the OctoCamo suit that allowed Snake to blend into his surroundings. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots received a rare perfect 10/10 review score from Game Informer.
This revisit is made possible by the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, allowing players to experience MGS 4 without needing a PlayStation 3. The stream features Charles Harte, a newcomer to the Metal Gear series, playing Guns of the Patriots for the first time. He is joined by Marcus Stewart, a long-time fan who is experiencing the game again after more than a decade.
The "Super Replay" began on Twitch and YouTube, airing live at 12 p.m. PT/3 p.m. ET. Each weekly episode is two hours long and will continue until the end of the game is reached. Viewers who cannot watch the live broadcasts can find each episode available on YouTube following its initial airing.
