Microsoft appears to be planning another price increase for Xbox consoles, potentially as early as 2027 or 2028. This news follows recent price adjustments and comes amid escalating costs for console components.

In a recent Xbox Wire blog post, Microsoft acknowledged that console storage and memory prices have more than doubled, with expectations of another increase by the fall of 2027. This situation suggests a possible price hike for Xbox systems within the next few years. The company noted that a $100 to $150 worldwide price increase for Xbox consoles is set to take effect on August 1, after an earlier $20 to $70 increase in the US in October of the previous year.

Microsoft had previously implemented a price increase in May 2025, which raised Xbox console costs between $80 and $100, depending on the model. While the ongoing global chip shortage is impacting various technology sectors, these successive price hikes raise concerns about the long-term affordability of game consoles.
