Microsoft has opened preorders for a 25th-anniversary edition of the Xbox Series X, priced at $900. This limited edition console sports a translucent green design and an "Xbox 25" logo to commemorate the milestone. It also includes a specially designed, translucent green Xbox controller.
Each of these consoles is individually numbered. As a notable perk, the 25th-anniversary Xbox Series X will come with a download code for Halo: Campaign Evolved. This game, which launched in July, was generally well-received, marking the first time a Halo title has been available on PlayStation.
Preorders for the console began on August 26 for select "dedicated Xbox fans," with wider availability for general consumers starting August 27 at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET through Xbox and other retailers. The consoles are slated to begin shipping on November 13, with a limit of one preorder per customer. For those interested in the controller alone, preorders are currently open for $80, with an October 20 release date.
While $900 positions this as an expensive console, it is not the most costly anniversary-themed console. That distinction belongs to Sony's PS5 Pro 30th anniversary limited edition bundle, which retailed for $1,000 in 2024.
