Mike Flanagan, known for his work on horror series like The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass, has offered a cryptic update on the upcoming live-action Warhammer 40K series he is developing with actor Henry Cavill.

Speaking with Deadline, Flanagan acknowledged the immense scope of the Warhammer 40K universe, which encompasses hundreds of novels in addition to the tabletop game and other media. He stated that the adaptation team has discovered what he described as "a very cool and unexpected on-ramp" into the franchise's lore. Flanagan playfully admitted he could not share more details, joking that Henry Cavill would be displeased if he revealed any specifics.

Amazon is also developing an animated Warhammer 40K series, set to spin off from an episode of the anthology Secret Level. Cavill will serve as an executive producer on the live-action project, with Dave Wilson and John Orloff attached as co-creators and directors. The animated series will focus on The Deathwatch, an elite unit of Space Marines.

Amazon has several other video game adaptations in various stages of development, including series based on God of War, Tomb Raider, and Life is Strange. A Mass Effect series also remains in development.
