Mina the Hollower, the protagonist of Yacht Club Games' recently released retro-inspired action RPG, is set to enter the fighting game genre in a crossover appearance. The character will join the roster of Aether Studios' Rivals of Aether 2 sometime next year. This marks the first fighting game appearance for the gothic, treasure-hunting character.

The crossover was revealed during EVO with a brief teaser, though further details on Mina's specific gameplay mechanics within Rivals of Aether 2 are expected at a later date. The game is slated to receive more guest characters in 2027. Mina the Hollower itself has been met with critical acclaim, with PC Gamer praising its combination of combat and scenery.

Rivals of Aether 2 will also be adding a new original character, Gouie, much sooner on August 4. Gouie is described as a slime-like platypus who consumes his opponents and utilizes parts of his own body as projectiles and stage hazards. His vocalizations reportedly shift between a childlike tone and a deep growl, contributing to his unsettling presentation.

Developer Aether Studios also announced during the EVO weekend that expanded modding tools for the creation of custom fighters in Rivals of Aether 2 will be made available to players. This follows a previous crossover between the Rivals of Aether series and Yacht Club Games, which saw Shovel Knight appear in the original title.
