Minecraft developer Mojang has announced that the Sift is coming to Java and Bedrock Edition in 2027. This marks the game's first new dimension in over 14 years, joining the Overworld, The Nether, and The End as Minecraft’s official fourth dimension.
The announcement was made at Minecraft LIVE September 2026. While details regarding the Sift's implementation in the vanilla game remain scarce, it was revealed that the dimension would also be featured in the upcoming dungeon crawler Minecraft Dungeons 2, which is set to release on September 29, 2026.
Mojang provided a brief glimpse of the Sift during the live event, showcasing some of its visual aspects and a new mob that inhabits it. A description for the Sift in Minecraft Dungeons 2 suggests it is a "beautiful, vibrant, and teeming with souls" environment, featuring new biomes such as the Meadow and the Carapace.
