A creative modder has infused Grand Theft Auto V with the spirit of Pokémon Go, populating the streets of Los Santos with creatures instead of its usual inhabitants. This modification, dubbed 'Pokémon Go GTA Edition,' transforms the familiar urban landscape into a hunting ground for virtual monsters.

The mod replaces the game's pedestrian population with various Pokémon-like characters. While the creator did not confirm if Pikachu makes an appearance, they noted the presence of a Squirtle and a Geodude, with one instance of a Charmander resisting capture. The gameplay appears to involve using items, akin to Poké Balls, to apprehend these creatures.

This mod offers a distinct departure from Grand Theft Auto V's typical gameplay, shifting the focus from criminal activities to creature collection. The user experimenting with the mod reported that only the character Trevor could seemingly initiate the creature-hunting gameplay, though they speculated that other installed mods might be interfering. Encounters can lead to combat, with one instance describing a creature being 'knocked out' after a physical altercation.
