Activision has confirmed that Modern Warfare 4 will bring back the popular practice of offering players early access to its single-player campaign. Pre-ordering any edition of the game digitally will grant access to the campaign up to one week before its full release on October 23rd, making it playable as early as October 16th for some.

The feature, which was a hallmark of the 2019 Modern Warfare reboot and continued with its sequels, was notably absent from other Call of Duty titles released in the intervening years. This early access period was initially introduced as a compelling pre-order incentive and has been widely praised for allowing campaigns to gain independent traction in discussions and for increasing the likelihood of players experiencing the story content. Historically, Call of Duty campaigns have seen lower completion rates, with many players opting to engage primarily with multiplayer modes.

The campaign for Modern Warfare 4 is set on the Korean Peninsula, following the events of Modern Warfare 3. Players will step into the role of a South Korean soldier responding to an invasion by North Korea. The narrative will also feature the return of familiar Task Force 141 members, including Captain Price and Ghost, whose loyalties and objectives may have evolved.

Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled to launch on October 23rd for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch 2. The early campaign access is exclusively available for those who pre-order the game digitally, not through retail channels.
